Alice Kolb works in a variety of fabric and decorative stitching techniques. Her teaching goal is to inspire students and readers to translate basic techniques into a personalized "stretch the obvious technique," be it in quilts or wearables. Enjoying the "stretch of the sewing machine," she has developed numerous easy techniques for sashiko, decorative machine embellishment, and crazy quilting. Simple piecing and embellishment on unstated wearables
are her trademarks.
Alice is a busy teacher, juror, and writer, comfortably working with large and small groups. She has written for a variety of publications including American Quilter, Threads, Rodale
Press, and others. She has authored books on machine techniques, including sashiko and crazy quilting. Her latest book, Sew Crazy, approaches endless possibilities of color and
embellishment. Teaching opportunities have included venues in many national conferences, Japan, and Switzerland. She has also participated in the American Quilter's Fashion Show, both in production and jury, and designed for the Fairfield Fashion Show.
Alice has a M.S. in Home Economics Education, Clothing and Textiles. In addition to quilting, Alice enjoys family, the Texas hill country, and gardening.
