Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center promotes wider appreciation of quilts as an art form and encourages individual development of quilters through exhibits, classes and programs in design and techniques emphasizing creativity, originality and design excellence.
Quilting by the Lake (QBL) began in
1981 as a four-day quilting conference in Cazenovia, New York, and
has grown into a two-week, nationally and internationally recognized
quilting event, nicknamed QBL. Located on the SUNY campus in Morrisville,
New York since 1990, QBL is making a move to Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, NY in 2009. QBL offers classes, lectures, a quilt show,
and vendors to a wide array of students with diverse interests and
multiple skill levels. QBL is owned and operated by the Schweinfurth
Memorial Art Center, a not-for-profit, multi-arts center in Auburn,
New York.
The atmosphere at QBL is friendly and casual,
and students enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of a rural college campus.
Classes are held in two-, three-, and five-day formats, with two
days off between sessions. Conference fees include classes, lectures,
quilt show, merchant mall, and receptions. Commuter students are
welcome. Join other quilters for 2-10 days of quilting, creativity
and camaraderie. Register NOW for 2009.

"As a first year 'newbie,' I was very impressed by the
conference.
The lectures were inspiring, the food was wonderful, time
spent with
other quilters was invaluable."
